Christmas Day may still be days away, but the warm spirit of the season is already at Primark Town Centers with its Paskong Pinoy theme across the country which captured the Filipinos’ unique celebration.
To highlight the season, Primark held the first-ever Parol Making Contest was held where youth teams from various schools in Aringay, Gerona, Cauayan, Gapan and Rosario showcased their creativity and let their stars shine in their colorful Christmas lanterns made up indigenous and recyclable materials.
“The parol is a traditional Filipino craft which symbolizes the star which appeared when the Lord Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem and guided the wise men to his location. And just like the color and bright light it brings, Primark is one with the communities in celebrating hope this season and into the New Year,” says Primark chief operating officer Ben Lua who hatched the contest.
He noted that the company launched the contest to engage the local people in their community-oriented programs, with specific focus in promoting camaraderie among youths to channel their energy to worthwhile undertakings.
The contest also encourages community participation and support through sticker voting by exchanging receipts worth P 100.00 for 1 vote sticker until December 18. Winners will be awarded at a Paskong Pinoy special variety program on December 19 at the participating Primark Town Centers.
“Primark intends to hold the contest nationwide to bring out the artistry of the Filipino youths and tap community engagement from all over through our Paskong Pinoy celebration,” Lua concluded.
Meanwhile, in Aringay, La Union, the parol contest coincided with the town’s patronal fiesta last Dec. 10 with various festivities such as the trade fair, Day Care Parent Night, Tourism Night, Aringay’s Got Talent Singing Contest, Aces Night, Little Miss Aringay and Rabii Ti Umili. Some of the events were hosted by Primark Town Center.
Moreover, participants in Aringay got a major boost when Mayor Eric Sibuma visited the colorful parol entries and commended their workmanship and creativity.
